Classification of CMRs in the EU is based on the strength of evidence showing that they present one of the CMR types of hazards to human health. The new EU legislation regarding Classification Labelling and Packaging of substances – the CLP Regulation 1272/2008 – uses the hazard categories in Table 1 for substances and for mixtures that contain CMRs.
